Emergency Tooth Extraction

DENTAL EXTRACTIONS

Do you think you may need a tooth extraction?

Neglecting oral health can cause events with negative consequences such as infections, broken teeth, a lot of pain, emergencies, and other general health issues, like diabetes and high blood pressure, and even cost more money (complexity level) than in the first place. Therefore, go to a dental assessment with a dental cleaning. Sometimes, a crown/build-up and/or appointment treatment plan will fix the problem before extraction is necessary.

  • Assessment and clinical examination
  • Radiological study
  • Dental cleaning (relaxation dentistry)
  • Diagnosis in detail and completely on the current state of everything related to the oral and dental cavity.

CARING FOR YOUR EXTRACTED TOOTH

The professionals on our team will tell you in detail what to expect after your tooth extraction. However, remember that even for the “simple” extractions, bleeding and/or some degree of pain can be expected. Therefore, taking all prescribed medications and allowing adequate recovery time while following our recommendations is important.

ADDITIONAL TIPS FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT AFTER TOOTH EXTRACTION:

Don’t spit or drink hard through a straw for at least 24 hours (it can lead to resected site infection).

  • Put ice or a cold compress outside the area where the tooth is being pulled. Remember to be putting on and take off. This will help prevent or reduce inflammation.
  • Don’t do any kind of physical activity that will make your heart beat faster. Rinse or apply the indicated gel product according to the instructions.
  • Eat some cool foods
  • Avoid Smoking

Tooth Extraction Process

At Virginia Dental Care, our goal is to preserve a natural tooth, but extraction may be necessary if it does not respond to conservative treatment. Our dentist offers gentle tooth extractions to quickly fix your pain and save your smile from unnecessary damage.

1. Preparation

Our qualified dentist will carefully examine the teeth and take X-rays of the teeth to determine whether the extraction is necessary.

2. Anesthesia

We will first make you feel satisfied and then numb the gums around your tooth with local anesthesia to block pain.

3. Treatment

We shake your teeth and tear the tooth ligament with forceps. After extraction, we insert a cotton swab to reduce bleeding.

4. Sutures

After extracting the tooth, our surgeon will suture the wound. Usually, dissolvable sutures don't require a separate appointment.

YOU CAN GET DENTAL CARE WHILE YOU RELAX

Before the procedure, our dentist or oral surgeon at Virginia Dental Care will give you something to make you feel better. After it has been absorbed, our skilled dentist loosens the tooth by twisting or pinning it. Usually, the tooth or molar is pulled out in its entirety. If the tooth is extremely stuck, it will be extracted in sections. Hence, you will again enjoy a relaxing smile.

MOST COMMON TOOTH EXTRACTION REASONS

A tooth extraction also called a dental extraction, is when a tooth is taken out of its place in the jaw bone. The process of dental extraction or extraction of a tooth can be carried out for multiple reasons. The most common reasons for pulling a tooth are:

  • Teeth get sick
  • Tooth decay
  • Cracks that can’t be fixed
  • Make room for orthodontic work
  • Badly placed teeth (i.e., impacted teeth)
  • Infection and/or risk of infection
  • Periodontal disease (gums and alveolar bone)
  • Periodontal disease (gums and alveolar bone)

TOOTH EXTRACTION PROCEDURE

Once a tooth extraction is decided to be the best thing for you, a date and time for the procedure will be set. Depending on the situation, antibiotics may be given before or after the surgery.
