We are a family dental clinic which has been serving the Arlington Community for the last decade. We combine both a Surgeon as well as a Highly Qualified Dentist, to give our patient both dental and surgical support. Our treatment philosophy is preventative, in stopping small problems from becoming big problems. Early Intervention Saves Teeth !!!
Our Philosophy
Dr. Omer Akmal is a board-certified periodontist and has directed our vision toward helping patients understand how the dental disease works and ways to prevent it. Our society and way of life are directly responsible for many health issues. It is only through understanding how our environment affects us that we can take control of our health.
Dental anxiety is a major hurdle for patients getting the help they need. This is often because of bad experiences in the past, a bad relationship with a previous doctor, or just seeing too many scary things on TV. We want to help you break these poor stereotypes and instead see your doctor as a partner here to help you with your health.

Dr.Omer Akmal (Periodontist)
Owner (Virginia Dental Care)
Dr. Akmal completed his bachelor’s in Psychology at The George Washington University . After which, he pursued his DDS degree at The Baltimore College of Dental Surgery . He continued on to earn a certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), where he learned advanced cosmetic and restorative procedures. During this time he found his passion for the surgical aspect of dentistry, and completed an additional 3 years of surgical training in Periodontics and Implant Surgery, at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Akmal’s compassion and understanding of the fears and anxiety of a visit to the dentist in conjunction with his background in Psychology make him an excellent caregiver. He will put your fears at ease, and help you to understand the issues with your teeth, and how he will work to solve them. His approach to dentistry revolves around a strong relationship with his patients, a strong emphasis on patient understanding of their disease process, and active participation in their own treatment.
Dr. Akmal is an active member of “The American Academy of Periodontics” (which he is a Board Certified member). In his free time, Dr.Akmal enjoys exploring the various arts and food nooks around DC, football, soccer, travelling, and rock climbing.
Dr. Anna Bruhn(DMD)
Dentist in Arlington, VA
Dr. Bruhn completed her bachelor’s in Biology and French language at the University of Notre Dame. She then attended Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, where she graduated with awards in operative dentistry and was inducted as a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. She went on to complete a general practice residency at the Baltimore VA Hospital, where she furthered her training in all aspects of dentistry, including extractions, root canals, and complex crown and bridgework.
Dr. Bruhn loves building long-lasting relationships with her patients to ensure they have the best possible experience. She is committed to providing quality, comprehensive dental care to all of her patients and staying up-to-date with the latest advances in dentistry. Dr. Bruhn’s goal is to make sure you’re comfortable in the dental chair and walk out with a smile!
Alejandra Heider
Office Manager
Alejandra brings over 19 years of experience in the field of dentistry and a passion for patient care. She leads our team since 2013 and is an essential part of Virginia Dental Care Patient care. Alejandra takes pride in helping patients with their dental care planning and financials. She is committed to ensure patients receive highest quality care and insurance benefits they deserve and paid for.
Her years of experience in all aspects of the dental office operation ensure that our patients get the best experience, most attention, and feel being part of our extended family.
Alejandra is a native to Virginia and lives with her husband and three lovely kids. She enjoys cooking, traveling, and family functions, and is an AMAZING Calligrapher.
